France

Institut Pour la Paix

L'Institut Pour la Paix is a laboratory at the interface of academic research and practice, which offers an innovative way of producing knowledge about peace. The IPP is an initiative driven by researchers with multidisciplinary backgrounds who study peace. Its unique character lies in the dialogue between its academic foundation and the military, political, and activist spheres, in the form of a research and action-research space that seeks to explore and better understand each other's spheres of action. The IPP also aims to be a space that develops new educational content that approaches peace from the broader perspective of the transformations of conflicts. This original approach in France embodies a positive project for transforming the ways in which peace can be worked on (and built), by promoting a space for listening, exchange, and dialogue between spheres that have developed in isolation.

Germany

Institute for Development and Peace

The Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) is a research institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen and combines basic scientific research with application-oriented research and policy advice at the interface of development and peace research. INEF was established in 1990 to scientifically support the work of the Development and Peace Foundation (sef:), Bonn, which is still one of our closest co-operation partners. INEF’s work focuses on processes of global governance, particularly in relation to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The spectrum of our research includes projects on the human rights responsibility of business, on shaping a future sustainable development agenda, on transformation and democratisation processes and the study of non-violent forms of conflict resolution.
