Description
The Center for the Study of Violence (Núcleo de Estudos da Violência) at the University of São Paulo is one of Brazil's leading research centres on violence, human rights and democracy. Founded in 1987, during Brazil's transition to democracy, NEV-USP studies police violence, the prison system, homicide, violence against women and public trust in institutions, and is a Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (CEPID) funded by FAPESP. Its data and publications inform public policy and the wider public debate.
