Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies: Students will examine and analyse root causes of real African conflicts and explore solutions to resolve, prevent and transform these. Students will be equipped to understand the trajectories and trends of national (gender-based violence, xenophobia, ethnoreligious violence), regional (Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe) and global conflicts (Middle East, Asia). Students will be exposed to conflict analysis, mediation, negotiation skills and their application to Africa’s conflict landscape. Students will take modules such as: Recovering from Conflict, Theory and Practice on Non-violence, African Approaches to Conflict Transformation and Restorative Justice.
