Peace Research Institute Oslo
The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) conducts research on the conditions for peaceful relations between states, groups and people. Researchers at PRIO seek to understand the processes that bring societies together or split them apart. We explore how conflicts erupt and how they can be resolved; we investigate how different kinds of violence affect people; and we examine how societies tackle crises – and the threat of crisis. We document general trends, seek to understand processes, and inform concrete responses.

The Austrian Centre for Peace (ACP) was founded in 1982 by Dr Gerald Mader and other like-minded people. We are located at Schlaining Castle in Southern Burgenland, with a second office in Vienna, the nation’s capital. Our work has earned us the status of UN “Peace Messenger” and a UNESCO “Prize for Peace Education”. The ACP is an independent, non-profit and non-partisan organisation. It is engaged in research, education/training and practical conflict transformation.

Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP) was launched in 1999 as an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness The Dalai Lama to build a culture of coexistence and nonviolence in South Asia that is gender-sensitive and inclusive. A not-for-profit, non-sectarian, non-denominational organization, the Foundation was established with the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to The Dalai Lama.
